Valorization of lemon peel waste as biosorbent for the simultaneous removal of nickel and cadmium from industrial effluents

چکیده

The valorization of agricultural waste as biosorbent requires studies dealing with aqueous systems containing coexisting heavy metals. Batch adsorption experiments were carried out to study the competitive biosorption Ni(II) and Cd(II) on alkali-modified lemon peel. kinetic analysis indicated that uptake peel was better described by pseudo first-order model whereas for results no conclusive. A rapid both metals detected during first 10 min obtaining more than 90% maximum sorption. capacity single metal at optimum conditions (pH = 5, S/L 5 g L?1, 25 ??C), which obtained from Langmuir model, reached high about 0.626 0.726 mmol g?1, respectively. These values reduced 30 20 % in presence 100 mg L?1 Cd Ni, Regarding reusability biosorbent, after five consecutives adsorption–desorption cycles using HNO3 H2SO4 desorption reagents percentages 90 70 recovered Ni Cd. promising through this work are expected promote use an efficient industrial applications.

Removal of Cu(II) from Ethanol Fuel Using Mandarin Peel as Biosorbent

Mandarin peels were investigated for the removal of copper ions from ethanol fuel. Infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis were used for elucidating possible functional groups responsible for the adsorption of Cu(II) from ethanol. The influence of parameters such as the mass of the adsorbent, sample pH, stirring time, and initial copper(II) concentration was investigated using mult...
